When it comes to family and cultural traditions, there are plenty of loving and exciting ones out there. However, few may be as fun and unique as the Traditional Ukrainian Wedding. While many wedding days begin with the bride and groom separately getting ready, as Krista and Ihor did, there was an additional element of joy on their special day.

The Ukrainian Tradition requires that the groom visits the bride’s parents’ home to offer a ransom for his bride. The bridesmaids protect the bride from being ‘stolen’, especially without a ransom! The groom will first offer something valuable, this is typically money or jewelry for the bride. Then the parents bring out a woman, or sometimes a man, dressed as the bride and covered with a veil. Unable to see his brides face, the groom eventually realizes this is not his bride and requests his true love. So the family demands a larger ransom. A ransom is negotiated and the bride runs off with her groom. Krista and Ihor respected this tradition and ended it with a shot of vodka.
It was then off to the altar for these two lovebirds. The bride wore a sparkling white A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline and delicate lace jacket for a romantic touch. Their religious ceremony ended with a loving smooch and cheers from the pews.
It was then time to feed the guests and turn up the music, so Krista and Ihor met their friends and family at The Addison Park in Keyport, NJ. The Addison Park is the perfect spot to meet all the wedding needs. With a large bouquet of flowers in one hand and her groom in the other, the couple wondered around a garden of The Addison Park to take some photos. A swooshing fountain and charming gazebo set the scene for the rest of the evening. With an outside as beautiful as the inside, couples can enjoy the venue any time of the year. The inside is as elegant as can be, with marble flooring, grand staircases, windows to bring in plenty of natural sunlight, the venue can compliment any wedding style.
The particular ballroom Krista and Ihor got to enjoy included beautiful crown molding, French doors looking out onto the beautiful landscaping, and chandeliers to light up the dance floor. The guests were treated to a massive gourmet buffet with drinks in particularly fancy glasses. The cake was 4 tiers high and adorned with beautiful purple and white flowers. The perfect treat to enjoy after a night of enthusiastic dancing.
