New Jersey Wedding Tips and Tricks

It takes months to plan for your big day. You spend so much time planning every specific detail, but too many brides forget there is a great deal that comes into planning for the perfect shot. As the owner of Meyer Photo and video, I sought out to provide affordable photography and video services for happy couples. After obtaining a degree in digital filmmaking and working in the industry for over a decade, I have found that many couples not only need affordable options but advice on how to get the most out of photography and video services.
Here are some of my top tips for couples looking to tie the knot.
Detail Shots – Compile all the items!
Jersey Shore Wedding Photographers
You know those pretty photos of your shiny ring, delicate flowers, or brand new shoes? Those detail shots are just as fun to take as they are to look at, but what goes on behind the camera may sir up some bad memories if you are not prepared. The morning of can be a bit hectic, especially if you are running behind. So when your photographer is hoping to capture your shoes, rings, or any other special details, make sure they are all in one spot and you don’t have to go searching while getting your hair done. Getting Ready Photos – Keep it pretty!
Getting ready shots are loved by some, while other brides are indifferent. If you do want these moments captured be sure to have the space somewhat tidy. Remember, everything left out may end up in a shot by accident.
Brides, do not get your hair and makeup done last! More often than not it is the getting ready that throws off a wedding timeline. If you are the last one in the chair then you are going to be rushed! Jersey Shore Wedding Photographers
Wedding Party Photos – Got time?
It is ideal to leave about 45 minutes for wedding party photos. An acceptable amount of time is 25 minutes or a minimum of 15 minutes. It may seem like a lot of time, but we want to make sure we get those formal shots, some fun ones, and of course, those personal ones with each bridesmaid and groomsman.
Family Photos – Organize, organize, organize
Family photos can range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. This is because some weddings only include immediate family, while others want to capture the whole gang. This can include certain family dynamics that may involve divorced parents or fighting relatives. Maybe older relatives use wheelchairs or babies need to be settled. No matter who is there make sure to tell everyone an earlier time than what is actually set. (Say, 3:30 instead of 4:00 for example) We are all sure to have one family member who is always late!
Also, before the wedding send your photographer a list of photo combinations you would like. This will help make sure no one is forgotten. Jersey Shore Wedding Photographers
First Look VS Ceremony
This can be a big question mark for many brides. On one hand, it is pretty traditional for brides to not see the groom until the ceremony – making it a touchy subject for some family members. On the other hand, it can really help with the logistics of planning out your day. A first look can give the couple time to spend with family during cocktail hour, give them more time with their spouse, and allow for plenty of time for photos so they are not rushed after the ceremony.
Planning your wedding can be stressful, but know many of us in the industry are equipped to handle the challenges of your big day. Consider these tips when making your timeline and contact The Meyer Photo & Video Group if you have any questions. Jersey Shore Wedding Photographers
